The Springfield Home School Knights began in 1995 as a single Jr. High boys’ basketball team and a cheerleading squad. Since then, SHSK has grown to become the most comprehensive homeschool athletic organization in the greater Springfield area. The Knights is a Christian organization open to all homeschool students in the Springfield, MO and surrounding area.
The past few years have seen unprecedented growth. In recent years the Knights program has offered Jr. High, Junior Varsity, and Varsity level competition in Basketball, eight-man tackle Football, Track, girl’s Volleyball, and Cheerleading. In 2004 the Knights added Baseball teams for youth ages 4-18.
As the program for younger athletes develops, so do the athletes’ accomplishments. The Varsity boys’ basketball team won 1st place in the Missouri Home School State Tournament in 2001, 2nd in 2002 and 2nd in 2005. They ranked 8th in the nation in 2000 and 2001, and 9th in 2002. Knights athletes currently hold 12 Missouri State Homeschool records and 11 National Homeschool records in the rapidly expanding track program. Our Varsity girls were state track champs in 2003, Varsity boys in 2004, and Jr High boys in 2005.
